STRATEGIC PLAN

A NEW STRATEGIC PLAN: 2020-2022

The 2020-2022 Strategic Plan was formulated in early 2019 and came into effect at the start of the 2019/20 financial year. The plan marked the beginning of a new period of growth for the Society, building on the work of the 2013-2018 Strategic Plan along with the strengths and heritage of the Society.

The strategy firmly places the people we serve at the centre of the work we do. We seek to fulfil our strategic objectives by functioning as One Society and align all our activities in a manner consistent with the Society’s Mission, Vision, Values and Spirituality.

This Strategic Plan has been developed during a significant period of transformation and change. Over time we have grown to become a major social service provider in NSW, particularly in the areas of homelessness and supported accommodation, community development, disability services and health services. While our growth has broadened the scope and reach of our work, it has required that we transform into a modern social service delivery agency with robust infrastructure and strong governance.

The 2020-2022 Strategic Plan has been formulated to provide a pathway to a unified and sustainable organisation, that is well equipped and capable of providing assistance to those in our community who need it most.

ITS AIM IS TO:

  • Provide a clear direction for the Society over its 3-year life
  • Articulate resources and actions required to support those in the community we serve
  • Outline a path of transformation to create operating efficiencies and improved governance
  • Allow the society to be dynamic in responding to changes in the external environment
  • Promote the efficient and effective use of resources in delivering our mission

THE STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK

In developing this framework, the plan reflects the voice of all our people: members, volunteers and staff, as well as the people we serve.

Outcomes of the Strategic Plan are organised under six strategic priorities in order to achieve our mission. These priorities are:

OUR STRATEGIC DESTINATION

By 2022, success of the plan will be evidenced in the way we:

  1. Place the people we serve are at the centre of our endeavour, through actively listening to their voice as we undertake social service planning, development and provision.
  2. Operate as ‘One Society’, with our members, staff and volunteers working together in pursuit of a common purpose – the reduction of poverty and disadvantage in our community.
  3. Utilise outcomes and impact measures to inform our work and our decision-making in all areas and to understand the impact of our social services.
  4. Show innovation in our work; in our social service provision as well as in our retail and commercial operations and our fundraising. We have explored how technology, processes and people interact to create new opportunities for our services and funding streams.
  5. Strive for sustainability, through wise stewardship of our resources.
