LOCAL AREA COORDINATION

For the past four years, the Society has supported the delivery of the Local Area Coordination (LAC) program, a Federal Government initiative that is part of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Through the program, we supported more than 30,000 people with disability to work towards their goals and implement their NDIS plans. We were the contracted provider of LAC services across the Central Coast, Hunter, New England, Central Sydney, South East Sydney, and South West Sydney regions.

On 23 April 2020, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) announced the results of an open tender process to determine ongoing delivery of this program. The Society was unsuccessful in our proposal, and so immediately began the process of transitioning our LAC services to the new providers contracted by the NDIA. The Society exited the program on 1 July 2020 in South East Sydney, the Hunter, New England, and the Central Coast; and 1 October 2020 in South West Sydney and Central Sydney.
